Hybrid polymer inclusion membrane as anion exchange membrane for recovering Pd2+ ions in electrogenerative process

A novel non-plasticized nano-porous hybrid inorganic-organic polymer inclusion membrane (PIM) was synthesized, characterized, and evaluated as an anion exchange for application in electrogenerative processes to recover Pd2+ ions. Ionic liquids 1-ethyl-3-me­thyl­imidazolium chloride (EMIM-Cl) 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium (BMIM-Cl) were used the carrier molecules polymeric network of PIM enhance process. This also consists a matrix cellulose triacetate modified by incorporating inorganic material (silane) prepared sol-gel route. Different parameters affecting ion transport performance efficiency, i.e., composition membrane, type ionic liquid (carrier molecule) ion–exchange capacity, investigated optimized. In process, results revealed that yields better recovery recovering ions from its solution compared commercial Neosepta® AM-01, with full 100 mg/L 30 min. preliminary study shows low-cost can act inexpensive suitable rapid efficient aqueous solution.
